HISTORY:-

    KOLKATA, the capital of the East Indian state of West Bengal is seen as the land of the intellectuals and joy located in eastern India on the east bank of the River Hooghly. It is also known as the famous  Land of 'Mother Teresa' and 'Rabindra Nath Tagore'. It is also known as 'City of Heritage' and mainly 'City of Joy'. KOLKATA was the capital of British India before Delhi assumed this position. 
Across all over India, people used to live in KOLKATA. Main language is Bengali. As people all over the India used to live here. Hence, common languages are Bengali,Hindi,English and so on.

 Victoria Memorial:-

 Victoria Memorial is located at the heart of Kolkata,which was built between 1906 and 1921 by queen Victoria. Queen Victoria who remained Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland since June 20, 1837 and Empress of India since May 1, 1876 passed away on January 22, 1901. Following her demise, Lord Curzon conceived the idea of constructing a colossal and grand building with a museum and gardens where one and all can have a glimpse of the rich past. Belur Math:-

One of the famous place of Kolkata.it was established by Swami Vivekananda and the temple spans over forty acres of land on the west bank of the Hooghly River. The temple is noted for its excellent architecture, which skillfully and artistically fuses Hindu, Christian, and Islamic motifs together as a symbol of unity of all religions.

One of the prominent historical places near Kolkata is the Indian Museum which is considered as the ninth oldest museum of the world and largest in India. Birla Planetarium:-



Kolkata’s Birla Planetarium is a circular shaped structure designed on the lines of Buddhist Stupa, and Sanchi styles that was established by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1963. One of the most-visited historical places in India, this planetarium hosts a spectacular sky show which is screened every day. In three languages shows are available(Bengali,hindi and English).

Howrah Bridge:-

 

The iconic landmark of the City of Joy, Howrah Bridge measures about 1500 ft long and 71 ft wide. Set majestically over the Hooghly River, it is one of the renowned historical places in Kolkata. There are a total of 8 lanes of road, bicycles, and pedestrians also known as Rabindra Setu. The Bridge is a massive steel structure which is considered as one of the longest cantilever bridges of its type in the world. Sunderbans:-
